Preschool insurance – what does it cover? What to look out for?

Preschool Insurance

Insurance for a preschooler is worth purchasing for many reasons. Accident insurance will be useful when, as a result of an accident or serious illness, long and costly treatment is necessary. It provides solid financial protection in such cases.

Preschooler Insurance

For young children, good accident insurance is a reasonable choice, as curious and active kids are prone to even the smallest accidents at home or in preschool. It covers events at home, school, trips, or vacations. Protection applies on the way to and from preschool, valid not only in Poland but also abroad (though reimbursement of treatment abroad usually requires separate travel insurance).

What does preschool insurance cover?

It covers accidents and illnesses. An accident means an event independent of the victim that results in permanent or temporary health damage. Common cases involve long hospital stays, rehabilitation, surgeries, or medical equipment (crutches, insulin pumps, braces, glasses). It also protects during sports, with wide coverage of allowed sports such as horse riding, team sports, or martial arts (karate, judo, taekwondo). Excluded are extreme sports and professional participation. Important is the compensation per 1% of health loss, as the most frequent injuries are fractures, sprains, bruises. Policies should also cover animal bites (dogs, cats, snakes) and stings. Good insurance includes search and rescue organization, legal support, psychological help for child and parents, and even tutoring costs if the child misses school after an accident.

Does preschool insurance cover hospital stay?

A key benefit is the daily hospital allowance, paid for each day of hospitalization due to accident or illness. It is granted after reaching a minimum number of days, depending on the insurer. Policies also cover serious illnesses (e.g. stroke, heart attack, sepsis) with lump-sum payments. COVID-19 is treated as any illness requiring hospitalization. Details such as waiting periods or additional benefits are listed in the policy terms.

There are exclusions, such as accidents due to alcohol, ignoring medical advice, surgery outside medical control, or fights (except self-defense). Accident insurance for preschoolers is a minimum level of protection and financial security. A good policy fully covers accident and treatment costs, giving parents peace of mind.
