5 ideas for rainy day games

On beautiful summer days, we try to spend as much time outdoors as possible. However, many parents wonder how to organize fun activities together when the weather fails. We have our reliable ways!

Puddles splashing

Yes! Rainy days are a perfect opportunity to let the child have fun and still not give up daily walks. Every parent knows that puddles mean great fun for kids, and there’s no reason to forbid it. Just make sure your child is properly dressed. Waterproof pants, a raincoat, and rubber boots are the essential gear for a little rascal. Jumping in puddles can be made even more exciting by launching paper boats, a rubber duck, or small ships made earlier from a margarine box. Fun guaranteed.

Kitchen revolutions

Children love to help in the kitchen, and a rainy weekend is the perfect time to dedicate a little more time to preparing a meal for the whole family. An extra benefit is discovering new flavors and diversifying the menu. Let the child actively participate in cooking and decide what you will prepare together – they will feel that their opinion matters to you and will learn the basics of healthy eating. Don’t forget dessert! Decorating cupcakes is a wonderful activity for both young and old cooks.

Build a fort

A good fort is the starting point for many family games. To build it, you need a few blankets, pillows, a quilt, and of course furniture. Planning and building the fort itself will already be fun for the kids. You can use it for watching movies together or put a small lamp inside and read books about the adventures of Little Nicholas or Robinson Crusoe. The only limit is your imagination!

Play theater

The weather doesn’t encourage going out to the theater? Create your own show! You can make puppets or act out roles yourselves. If your child has a favorite book, it’s also a great idea to bring its story to life on the stage of your home theater. Such play develops creativity and imagination and enriches the child’s vocabulary.

Arts and crafts

The possibilities of creating little works of art are endless. You have drawing pads, colored paper, and crayons at your disposal. You can also use kinetic sand, modeling clay, salt dough, or even stones and leaves. The works you make together can be related to the season – a card for Mother’s or Father’s Day, autumn figures from chestnuts, lanterns from jars for long evenings, or puppets for playing theater.

Every kind of weather is good for playing with your child. We hope that the above examples convinced you that even during daily downpours you can spend family time together without turning on the TV or computer games.
