300 PLN for school supplies. Rules of granting the benefit

This year the “Good Start” program, also known as 300+ or School Starter Kit Plus, is being launched. How to obtain this benefit? How to apply? We answer these and other questions below.

Who is eligible for 300+?

On June 1, 2018, Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki signed a regulation granting 300 PLN to every child in education up to the age of 20 and to disabled students up to the age of 24. This benefit does not apply to children in kindergartens and preschool classes.

Parents, legal and actual guardians, foster families, as well as persons running children’s homes or care and educational institutions may apply for payment.

How to apply for the allowance?

Electronic applications can be submitted through the Emp@tia portal of the Ministry of Family, Labor and Social Policy starting from July 1, while paper applications may be submitted from August 1 at the municipality competent for the place of residence. Unlike the 500+ program, there is no income criterion here. The benefit is granted to all students once a year. The deadline for submitting applications is November 30 each year.

What can the “Good Start” funds be used for?

The purpose for which the received 300 PLN is spent is arbitrary, but the program was created to facilitate completing a school starter kit for the new school year.

“Parents know best how to spend money for their children. We trust Poles, we trust parents, we trust everyone.” – said Prime Minister Morawiecki.

The program aims to support the purchase of textbooks and school supplies. Since many students already receive textbooks free of charge at school, it is worth considering securing your child even better by allocating part of the benefit for good school accident insurance.
